About Us

Kari A. Dixon, M.S.P.T., COMT

Kari received her Degree in Kinesiology from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and her Masters of Physical Therapy from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.  Kari is a Maitland Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT) and is a proud member of the American Physical Therapy Association’s Orthopedic Section and Private Practice Section.  Practicing for more than 7 years in out-patient orthopedics and sports medicine practices, Kari has worked with patients with all types of orthopedic injuries, especially of the knee and shoulder.  She uses a variety of treatment techniques including joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, exercise and modalities.  Kari has worked with patients of all ages as well as professional athletes.

Since opening her clinic, Kari has treated patients that have had Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation (ACI) surgery, also known as cartilage transplantation or Carticel. She has worked with Dr. Norman Marcus, one of the local orthopedic surgeons who has performed this type of surgery, to develop a general rehabilitation plan for surgery patients. Like most other orthopedic surgeries, rehabilitation after ACI implantation is critical to the healing process and to the success of the procedure.  Kari has become extremely familiar with developing a plan of care for each patient based on the needs and expectations of the patients, as well as factors such as the lesion size, location and patient age.
